Martha is closing the Festival on Sunday 18th July 2010

It takes place at:

Larmer Tree Gardens, on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, just off the A354 between Salisbury and Blandford

Looks like it is a nice and peaceful festival- Like the name anyway!

Here is a copy and paste from femalefirst.co.uk, (which is where the alert came from) describing the festival:

'Larmer Tree Festival is truly like no other. With an eclectic array of stellar live acts, hilarious stand-up, colourful theatre and dance, interactive workshops for all ages and delicious locally produced food, all set in glorious Victorian gardens, Larmer Tree Festival creates an infectious and unique carnival atmosphere that it is impossible not to be swept up in. With tickets kept to 4000 each day, Larmer Tree Festival promises one of the most intimate and personal festival experiences'

A date when Martha is performing with Rufus:

Seems like Martha may be having a few trips over the Atlantic this summer:

She will be with Rufus at the Mountain Winery in San Fransisco on the 23rd August 2010

Here is the link I have so far: Blog

I went to Rufus' first night of touring his new album last night in Southampton. Was my first Rufus concert (not including seeing him and the family at the RAH) I shall not write my little review of it here, as this is a Martha blog, but it was impressive and very emotional at the same time. Even though performing alone, the presence of his family was strongly felt throughout.

reviews of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's 'Here Lies Love'

new live date in NYC as part of a spring spectacular at The Players of Gramercy Park, May 7th 2010

Here is a link to the article about it :

Here is an extract from it:

'The historical landmark The Players of Gramercy Park opens its private doors to the public for SPRING SPECTACULAR, a night of elegance harkening the rich history of Manhattan’s legendary entertainers with a Kennedy-era flair. This star-studded evening will feature big band, swing dancing, burlesque and jazz while bringing together a staggering array of talent demonstrating the city’s diversity. The event will be held Friday, May 7th at 8pm. Guests are encouraged to dress in swing, beatnik or mid-century modern attire (Mad Men).

This rare occasion celebrates the spring season through an evening of the exuberant entertainment of yesteryear with a modern, independent edge. Special guests include vocalist Martha Wainwright performing a selection from her album “Martha Wainwright Sings Piaf” in addition to the “velvet voice” of Jolie Holland, the independent artist who counts none other than Tom Waits as one of her biggest fans. Accompaniment for the night's performances as well as live jazz and swing provided by the acclaimed JC Hopkins' Biggish Band along with tap-dancing sensation DeWitt Fleming Jr. (called "an amazement" by The NY Times) and singer Champian Fulton(who The New Yorker touts as having a “galvanizing voice”). Singer Shien Lee (of Dances of Vice) will perform with pianist Bryan Reeder in the club's Sergent Room.'
